She’s the girl next door who started her career in Tollywood with a bang. And Anita aka Natassa is back. A lukewarm response in Ninne Ishatapaddanu and Adanthe Ado Typu later, Anita is still one confident girl, considering she’s got a lot going for her.
For starters, there’s her next flick, Nenu Pelliki Ready . Smiles Anita, “It’s an out and out comedy that I’m doing with Srikant, Laya and Vidya. After my experience in the south, I feel comedy is the one thing people here enjoy.â€
The girl from Mumbai who shot to fame with Nuvvu Nenu , and moved on to Bollywood, has been rather low profile of late. She explains, “I’ve been busy shooting for Hindi films and you need to give them a lot of time. That’s why I vanished for a while. But Tollywood is important for me and I’m not ignoring it for Bollywood.â€
She brushes aside the Adanthe Ado Typu debacle and the Bollywood slow start – “Everyday’s not a Sunday – you don’t get a hit every now and then. As far as I’m concerned, I’m working hard and picking up good movies. When doing Nuvvu Nenu I never thought it would make such a difference to my career. When I look back, I wonder when I will do a Nuvvu Nenu again.â€
But it’s not like Anita is down and out. In fact, she has much to look forward to. As she points out, “I haven’t been very choosy about things like working in one heroine projects. But now I want a heroine oriented role in which I can perform.â€
Anita recently ventured into new territory, by bagging two high profile Kannada films. Apart from which she has a couple of Hindi films in the pipeline, including a thriller with Sohail Khan and a ‘mature romance’ with Aftab Shivdasani in which she has a performance oriented role. “It’s along the lines of a Saathiya.â€
But what she would love to do is a glamorous role. She smiles “I would love to play a glamour doll for a change. And though I’m comfortable with looking hot, especially after the Ding Dong Ding Dole number, I don’t really want to change my simple girl next-door image. I think in the south people appreciate a simple girl more than a sultry siren.â€
