Birthday bongshell

Birthday Bong-shell!

Birthdays are always a great way to get together with your friends and get some great gifts, and when the birthday girl in question is Riya Sen, you can be sure there will be loads of them — friends as well as gifts! The Bong beauty turned a year older and celebrated her birthday recently at Enigma at the J W Marriott. The place was jam packed with her friends from the filmi world and needless to say, the do rocked on till the wee hours of the morning! The birthday girl herself stood at the entrance, glowing with the barrage of birthday wishes which kept coming her way. Elder sis Raima Sen and mom Moon Moon Sen made sure that they were there at her side all along. Sanjay Suri was seen along with wife Ambika and the duo were seen having a whale of a time. Feroz Khan looked his usual dashing self and was seen in the company of David Dhawan and Himesh Reshammiya. Ekta Kapoor came in to wish Riya. Also spotted was another telly-face, Anita (remember Natassha, anyone?), with mehendi all over her hands. Esha Deol looked a tad tired, working out too much girl?
IT’S A GUY THING: Since the birthday girl was the pretty Riya, it was no surprise that there was a whole gang of good lookin’ dudes around. Dino Morea, Rahul Dev, Sharman Joshi and Aashish Chaudhary indulged in some buddy-bonding.
BONG BRIGADE: One thing Bongs love to do, besides eating rosogullas of course, is to mingle around with other Bengalis. Best friend Tanushree was obviously present, and so was Bappi Lahiri with his wife and son Bappa.
GUESS WHO’S BACK, BACK AGAIN? Usmaan Afzal, Amrita Arora’s boyfriend was seen at the do, with Amrita by his side. He certainly seems to be smitten with the pretty lass! Guess, we will be seeing more of the couple on Page 3, now that he’s back in town!

Anita Hasanandani
Anita Hasanandani (Anjali of Kavyanjali) was all set to rock the Star Screen awards with Zayed Khan on Wednesday night. However, things didn’t go as planned. The actress had to cancel her performance due to a sty in her left eye.

“I would have loved to be a part of the awards, but since the last few days, I have been suffering from a sty in my eye”, says Anita.

Shweta Tiwari, Juhi Parmar, Shilpa Saklani and Anita were supposed to join Zayed on stage to dance to a medley of songs that included Dus Bahane. However, due to Anita’s condition, Surveen Chawla was roped in at the last minute to join the rest of the cast.

“I am under medication and using eye drops. In fact, I had even taken a short break for a couple of days from Kavyanjali, due to the sty. There is no way I can stand in front of the camera and shoot.” However, there has been a slight improvement in her condition after medication.

“I did shoot today, but for long shots, since close ups are not possible. I think it will take some time for the sty to totally disapear.”

Does she regret not being part of the show, she says, “It wasn’t in my hands. Of course, I would have loved to dance with Zayed and perform. Maybe next time….”
