*We have found someone who can update this show for us, but it would be great to have backups and someone volunteer to do written updates*

No scheming saas, no bitchy bahus, no melodrama – Ekta Kapoor’s new show is no tear-jerker. Balaji Telefilms’ Karley Sapney Purey (KSP) is touted to be a weekly, youth-oriented primetime show for Sab Sony. KSP will have four female protagonists and, no male protagonists at all! Along with Anita Hassanandani and Sudha Chandran there will be several fresh faces. Anita will be given a village belle in the show while Sudha will be given an Aparna Sen kind of look. Apparently, the show has been inspired by young aspiring girls from small towns coming to Balaji Telefilms for a break.

Prashant Bhatt, creative head of the show from Balaji, says, “The show revolves around small town girls who make it big. It’s about 21-year-olds and their struggles. Every young girl will connect with it. Since there’s enough of melodrama in our reality shows, it’s time to infuse some reality in our shows. This show will be the first of its kind from Balaji. We’ve done path-breaking shows like Kyunki… and Kahiin Kisi Roz earlier too.”

This will be a show with a difference. Prashant says, “We are casting many fresh faces in the show. We will not show plastic surgery, rape, amnesia, abortion, bigamy, extra marital affairs that we see in our daily soaps.”

Sudha Chandran sounds very happy with her role. She says, “I will play an urban working mother who returns from London. The creative team is still working on the character I will play. Nim Sood has finalised an Aparna Sen look for me. I’ll start shooting soon.”

Full-on research has gone into conceptualising the show. The creative team interacted with few hostellers to gauge their and their families’ lifestyles. Says Prashant, “We spoke to the girls living in various city hostels about their struggles, and how their families had to sacrifice and let go off their daughters to follow their ambitions in metros. We have also observed closely the young girls who come to Balaji Telefilms to become actresses.”

Shooting for the show has begun and it will go on air by the end of this year.
