Must watch! A very emotional and touching tale, written by Gulzar. The execution is perfect and the story leaves an impact. A brilliant Nana Patekar is in form. Anita and Rohit are good.

To sum up, Dus Kahaniyaan is a surprise package from Gupta, whose last two films (Zinda, Shootout At Lokhandwala) have also shown a decided upward graph after his earlier tepid work. It will be a pity if its unconventional content and format does not reap box-office rewards. To me, this is the most riveting watch since Jab We Met.”

Anita Hasnandani has been in the news of late for her alleged break-up with boyfriend Eijaz Khan. But, for a change, the actress has a lot to talk on the professional front. She is doing a cameo in Ekta’s new weekend show Kya Dil Mein Hain and will also be seen in Karlo Sapne Purey. We asked the actress about both the serials.

“I will be there for just 6 episodes. I play Tapur, the elder sister of Kaakon (Abigail). She’s badly in love with a guy but her parents don’t approve of this relationship and arrange a guy for her so in frustration she tries committing suicide. Eventually, Kaakon not only prevents her from committing suicide but also manages to convince Tapur to marry the groom that her parents have chosen for her. And that’s how my role will end. It may be a small role but what matters is that it is a Balaji show and frankly speaking I can’t say no to Ekta.”

Karlo Sapne Purey

“I’m playing a comic character for the first time so I am quite excited. I play Lali, a village girl, who comes to Mumbai to be an actress. She can’t dance or speak but still she fulfills her dream.”

Break up with Eijaz Khan

“I don’t want to comment on this as it’s my personal life.”

Currently the actress is seen in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Sanchi.

…confesses chirpy actor Anita Hassanandani in a free-wheeling chat with AT

Television’s perfect 10 girl, Anita Hassanandani has no problems about being referred to as ‘Anjali’ her screen alter ago for years — in real life. After a short hiatus, the ravishing actor who’s knocked off some extra kilos has lots lined up, a lead role in the starstudded Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and a plum role in the big-ticket film Dus Kahaniyaan and is looking better than ever. “I have worked really hard to lose those extra-kilos and am feeling on the top of the world. I love the fact that everything I wear, suits me,” grins Anita.

Anita has has done a couple of multistarrer flicks earlier, too, which haven’t been commercial successes. So isn’t she afraid of being side-lined again? “It’s always fun to be part of multi-starrers. Working with Nana Patekar in Dus Kahaniyaan was a great experience. He is a phenomenal actor and I am very lucky to have got this opportunity,” she adds.

For chirpy Anita, acting isn’t exactly new, from shooting a two minute commercial to a prime time soap and movies, she’s done them all with mixed results. “While shooting for a 30 second ad film and a Bollywood film, everything has to be perfect. There’s no room for goof-ups. Whereas shooting for television does leave us with an option of rectifying the mistakes. When it comes to shooting films down South the schedules, budget, planning and timings — all are tightly drawn. Unlike Bollywood, nobody dares to go over-budget there.”

She’s also known to be Ekta Kapoor’s favourite and has done cameos in several Balaji soaps and played the lead in Balaji’s films Koi Aap Sa, Kucch To Hai and Krishna Cottage among others. “I do accept assignments outside Balaji as well. But yes, Balaji is like my extended family and I respect Shobha aunty a lot,” points out Anita.

Beyond the lights, camera and action, what does Anita do? “I like spending time with my family and friends. I also like watching movies, I enjoyed Jab We Met,” says Anita who admires Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan for their star power and Irrfan Khan and Tabu for their acting talent.

Where does marriage figure in her scheme of things, we ask? Without mentioning exbeau Eijaz Khan, Anita ends diplomatically, “There are no plans for marriage on the cards. At the moment, my entire focus is on my career.” We hope the right people are listening.

Distressed by this, she tries committing suicide However, Kaakon not only prevents her from committing suicide but she also manages to convince Tapur to marry the groom that her parents have chosen for her. This marriage also brings an end to my role in the show.”

The sexy actress has no hassle in playing a cameo role. She clarifies,”The length of a role has never mattered to me. The character has to appeal to me. Above all, it’s a Balaji show and I can’t say no to Ekta.”

While it’s just a cameo in Kya Dill, Anita is all excited about her forthcoming Balaji show ‘ Karlo Sapne Purey’. “I’m playing a comedy character for the first time. I play Lali, a village girl, who comes to Mumbai to be an actress. She can’t dance, or speak to save her life and yet she dreams of becoming a big actress. She comes to Mumbai and after going through the grind, she finally fulfills her dream.”

I am totally looking forward to this. I have a feeling they will probably do a “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag” and I cannot wait to see her transformation!
