Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabhaarat Ki will go on air earlier than initially scheduled

Ekta Kapoor’s much talkedabout show, Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabhaarat Ki, will go on air, earlier than the scheduled date. So now viewers can tune in to the epic from July 7 onwards, instead of the earlier schedule of August 15. The show is slated to be a daily and will be aired on prime time from Monday to Thursday.
This change of schedule has taken place because Balaji Telefilms are way ahead of their deadline and have already built up a huge bank of episodes.
Although Ekta Kapoor remained unavailable for comment, a spokesperson of the channel says, “Yes, we had earlier announced the date of the telecast as August 15, to buy time as it is a big and ambitious show. Also, we wanted to ensure that we have a proper bank of episodes before we begin telecasting. Now that we have built up a bank of episodes, we are ready to go on air from July 7.”
The spokesperson also confirms the telecast days. She adds, “The show will now be aired from Monday to Thursday and not twice a week as we had scheduled earlier.”
Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabhaarat Ki stars the biggest names in television like Ronit Roy, Hiten Tejwani, Saakshi Tanwar, Aryan Vaid, Chetan Hansraj, Anita Hassanandani and Makrand Deshpande, among others. It is shot on a truly epic scale with spectacular sets and locations such as Ladakh, Jaipur and Wai. ON THE WARPATH Subhash K Jha
In BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, actor Mukesh Khanna played Bhishma Pitamah, who had an integral role in way the epic played out. However it seems that Mukesh Khanna has predicted Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki to be disastrous, even before its telecast. “How can he be so sure of what we’ve made when he hasn’t even seen a single frame?” Ekta retorts.
She adds, “I have the greatest regard for Mr BR Chopra and Ravi Chopra’s Mahabharat, of which Mukesh Khanna was a part. Mahabharat is a mythological, not a historical. It is open to so many interpretations.”
Khanna has also hinted that a new version of Mahabharat would be a flop as the remake of Sholay w as. Laughing the matter off, Ekta says, “Sholay was a product of Ramesh Sippy’s imagination, whereas Mahabharat is a legacy and a part of our culture, passed down from generations. It belongs to me as much as it is anyone else’s. The only person who can challenge my right to interpret Mahabharat is Ved Vyas, the man who wrote the epic. Luckily, he isn’t around!”

Anita Hassanandani

Anita Hassanandani

It’s a family drama all right, but this time Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji buddies will fight the epic battle not in her soap operas, but in mythological daily Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharata Ki on 9X.

While the other characters had already been finalised, the queen of soaps has zeroed in on her close friend Anita Hassanandani to play Draupadi.

Having bagged the coveted role, an excited Anita said, “I was shooting for Fear Factor in South Africa when Ekta called and I simply accepted the role.”

When asked who is her favourite out of the five brothers, she replied, “Yudhisthir, for his honesty.”

The big question: who will step in as big brother, Yudhisthir?

“Who is Roopa Ganguly?” asks Anita!!
by Vidhya Krishnan
Jun 13, 2008, Bangalore

ekta kapoor 9x mahabharat

Ekta’s Mahabharat is the latest buzz that’s catching everybody’s fancy. Speculations on which of the favorites would land up with plum roles is a bet that’s making rounds. And the latest to make it to the headlines is none other than the main character, Draupadi and essaying the important role is Anita Hassanandani. Vidhya Krishnan caught up the actress, in an elated, yet treading-on-shaky-ground mood to know more about the happenings.

We couldn’t resist kick starting the interview with comparing her with Roopa Ganguly and Anita, promptly answered, “Excuse me, but who is Roopa Ganguly?”

She then got comfortable and chatty on essaying the role of Draupadi…

A little nervous, because I can see the industry and the people scrutinizing every move of mine. Though, the shoot hasn’t started, people have already started the comparisons. But, mercifully, like my character, I’m strong and I’m learning to weather the storm.

It happened when I was shooting for Fear Factor and out of the blue I got a call from Ekta asking me whether I would play this role and I instantly agreed to it. Since I was busy with the Fear Factor thing, nothing else occurred to me and I just agrMahabharateed without any thought at that point of time. It hadn’t sunk in till a while, but when it did, well, it did knock me out for a while, but then began the thrill. Yes, I’m surprised … I didn’t expect to play this kind of a role and that too this early in my career. But, now that the role’s in my kitty, I’m working on my style.

The supposed strain between the Ekta’s angels – Gauri Pradhan and Anita over the role of Draupadi… Well, there’s no point talking about it, because the media is still going to draw its own inferences. Both Gauri and I are good friends, but professionally, we draw the line. As a professional, I know that I’ve bagged the role and I’m very positive about it. One never gets to experiment with playing such roles and it is definitely going to be a different role for me until date that I have played in my career.

Balaji is my second family and that comfort level always exists.

Preparing for the role is a Herculean task…because I haven’t really seen the earlier Mahabharata. And the Hindi is going to be different and I will have to work on that bit. As far as my looks are concerned, I’m working on my hair which needs to grow long and knock off some kilos.

I foresee challenges in the role…

In the pipeline…I am hoping for a right balance of my work and my loved ones. I want to spend some good quality time with my loved ones. When I was working on Kavyanjali, I failed to do that; hence I want to slow paddle and experience the best of everything in life and live to the fullest of it.
