Husband and wife, travelling on a bus, have a argument. An irritated Anita sits next to a interesting man holding 11 red colored balloons in his hand. He is carrying them for his wife… The story behind the balloons carries a very important lesson in ones life.

Must watch! A very emotional and touching tale, written by Gulzar. The execution is perfect and the story leaves an impact. A brilliant Nana Patekar is in form. Anita and Rohit are good.

To sum up, Dus Kahaniyaan is a surprise package from Gupta, whose last two films (Zinda, Shootout At Lokhandwala) have also shown a decided upward graph after his earlier tepid work. It will be a pity if its unconventional content and format does not reap box-office rewards. To me, this is the most riveting watch since Jab We Met.”

Starring Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah, this sensitive tale called Rice Plate takes a look at a Hindu woman and a Muslim man’s reactions towards material things.

Dino Morea and Tareena Patel star in the short story, Sex on the Beach where Dino picks a worn out book on the beach and out pops a female character. The couple have a wonderful time together but then Dino’s life suddenly changes as the dream woman springs some surprises on him.

Another story titled Love Dale stars Anupam Kher, Aftab Shivdasani and Neha Oberoi

Neha meets an old woman on a train wearing only one earring. Finding this strange, a conversation starts between the two but this chance encounter changes Neha’s life forever as fate and destiny come into play.

Then there is a tale about Matrimony starring Mandira Bedi, Arbaz Khan and Sudhanshu Pandey.

Happily married couple, Mr and Mrs Sarin live a blissful life. Mrs Sarin meets her bedridden aunt every Thursday. But is she really meeting her aunt? This is a story about betrayal and faith where love can make a fool out of us all.

Another story titled Gubbare stars Anita Hasnandani, Nana Patekar and Rohit Roy.

After an argument with her husband on the bus, Anita sits next to an intriguing man holding 14 red balloons. As the journey progresses, another journey begins into this man’s past uncovering the key to one of the most important lessons in life.

The story titled Pooranmashi starring Amrita Singh, Minisha Lamba and Parmeet Sethi shows the bond between a mother and her daughter. As her only child, who is about to get married, the mother tries to give her everything in order to make to her happy.

The next story (titled Strangers in the Night) starring Neha Dhupia and Mahesh Manjrekar focuses on a couple who reveal secrets to each other on their anniversary.

But when the wife narrates an interesting encounter with a stranger at the railway station waiting room, the revelations suddenly starts to affect their relationship.

Jimmy Shergill and Masumeh star in High on the Highway which symbolises their companionship and their unspoken love.

Its unpredictable and volatile turns define this story of two people who discover the boundaries of freedom and the recklessness of life.

Manoj Bajpai and Dia Mirza star in Zahir, a short story about friendship, love and mystery. A writer is driven to madness after he makes a startling discovery about the woman he loves.

Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty star in the Rise and Fall, a story about dreams focusing on two gangsters, their friendship and subsequent betrayal.

Rise and Fall is a story of two friends united as brothers but divided by power.

With each story having its own twist in the tale Dus Kahaniyaan is an ambitious production looking at modern romance of people living in the realms of power where fortunes are made and squandered, honour betrayed and redeemed, and love lost and rediscovered.

It would have relatively less competition at that time.
